Product Details

Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

Artist's Description

It doesn't take much imagination to look at a Arizona Grand Canyon sunrise and envision Native Americans greeting the sunrise with their sacred pollen and ceremony. My studies in this regard are limited, as is my knowledge, to readings I have done in Tony Hillerman novels. I don't know much about it, but I can visualize similar events happening in a place like this.

In Navajo thinking, all good things in life result from respect for the harmony of the universe, known as hozho. An orderly balance governs the actions and thoughts of all living things. Like any other ideal state, this can be difficult to maintain. Whether conscious, unconscious, or the result of a skinwalker, a transgression can result in illness, misfortune, or even disaster and can be remedied only with a prescribed ceremony to the offended deity. Photography is all about using light to capture the emotion and beauty of a fleeting moment. For me, this adventure began with a single spring image using a small Kodak film camera of a freshly watered central Kansas ditch and has come full circle using modern digital techniques. My first camera was acquired by trading an ancient Royal typewriter to a fellow college student who was desperate to finish a term paper. It was a long time ago and that camera was my passport to an art that has fascinated me ever since. I owned and operated a professional studio in central Kansas for 20 years and moved to Colorado in 1994.
