Description
This is a view of the bottom of the big cirque near the highest part of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park in northern Colorado.
A cirque is bowl shaped feature formed by glacial erosion. The concave shape is open on the downhill side and the walls are generally steep. The steep slopes on which ice and glaciated debris collect form the higher sides of the bowl. During the summer, the bottom of this Rocky Mountain cirque is lush and green attracting elk and other mountain animals.
