Description
Smoke billows upward from the Alexander Mountain fire in northern Colorado under a bright sun and a mostly clear blue sky. The landscape features open fields with hills and low mountains in the far distance.
The Alexander Mountain Fire was estimated at 9,668 acres with 74% containment, per the Southwest Incident Management Team on August 5th. 536 fire personnel were assigned to the fire. Aided by the light precipitation, firefighters continued working on containment, and extinguishing hot spots within the burn area. At this time, the fire seems to be under control.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition.
