Description
I always like to see a Robin in late winter. The species (Turdus migratorius) is an early migrant near the end of a typical Colorado winter and sightings always make me think that spring is near.
The American robin is a migratory songbird of the thrush family named after the European robin because of its reddish-orange breast. It has a wide distribution throughout North America, winters from southern Canada to central Mexico and along the Pacific Coast. Connecticut, Michigan, and Wisconsin all claim it as their state bird.
