Description
Army barracks haven't changed all that much in the last one hundred years or so. Except that now the pillows soldiers head rests on alternate so the men sleep head to foot instead of head to head as seen here in the old Fort Laramie buildings. That and of course, the Calvary blue has been replaced with Olive Drab green - at least that's what I'm used to...
When I first saw the rifle rack, I thought that the weapons had been placed in backwards. My reaction would have been to place them with the hammers toward the center rather than like you see here. Again, I was in error. It turns out that, according to a 1915 Army manual, they are indeed placed in this correct orientation when garrisoned in the barracks.
