Description
These iron sculptures by Tobe Zweygaydt are in memory of Cheyenne and other Indian survivors of the November 29th, 1864 massacre at Sand Creek, Colorado.
Fleeing here to the Cherry Creek Valley near St. Francis, Kansas the Indians remained until they were joined by other plains Indian tribes massing for an attack on Julesburg, Colorado on January 7th, 1865.
Two years later in 1887, Sam Ferguson shot and butchered the last known bull buffalo near this area of Kansas.
Some digital effects were applied to this original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition. Ordered images will not contain the FAA watermark.
