Description
This autumn image is of the famous Idaho Springs waterfall located south across the interstate from the mountain town of Idaho Springs, Colorado. Seems like every state has their own "Bridal Veil Falls" doesn't it? This one is in Colorful Colorado.
Idaho Springs is located in Clear Creek Canyon, in the mountains upstream from Golden, some thirty miles west of Denver, Colorado. Local legend is that the name of the city derived from annual visits to the radium hot springs made by a Native American chief and his tribe who journeyed there each year from Idaho to bathe in the magic healing waters.
The "Idaho Springs" Water wheel, sometimes called the "Charlie Tayler Water Wheel", below these falls was built in 1893 by gold miner Charlie Tayler. Charlie was a local character who attributed his longevity to never having bathed or kissed a woman. (Directly proportional, I think...)
Charlie's water wheel was moved from its original site at a 19th century gold mine to its present location along I-70 in 1948. The wheel was restored in 1988.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition. Your finished photograph will not contain the Fine Art America watermark.
