Description
This covered bridge crosses Fitzsimmons Creek in Whistler, British Columbia. Thought I would see what the scene looked like if shot on infrared film. I remember that I used to have to use the little red dot on the lens barrel to adjust the focal point to match the infrared wavelength instead of visible light. This treatment was done in the computer and seemed to give similar results.
Infrared radiation was discovered in 1800 by astronomer William Herschel, who found a type of invisible radiation in the spectrum beyond red light, by means of its temperature effects on a thermometer. Infrared radiation is invisible radiant energy in the form of electromagnetic radiation with longer wavelengths than those of visible light, extending beyond the red edge of the visible spectrum at 700 nanometers. A nanometer is one billionth of a meter.
