Description
Through its association as the “flagship” of the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Aluminum Overcast B-17 has become a living reminder of World War II aviation for many years to come. The aircraft proudly carries the colors of the 398th Bomb Group of World War II, which flew hundreds of missions over Nazi-held territory during the war.
The 398th Air Expeditionary Group is a provisional United States Air Force unit assigned to the United States Air Forces in Europe. The 398th may be activated or inactivated at any time. During World War II, its predecessor unit, the 398th Bombardment Group was an Eighth Air Force B-17 Flying Fortress unit in England, stationed at Royal Air Force Nuthampstead. The group flew 195 combat missions, the last being on 25 April 1945.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition. Your finished photograph will not contain the Fine Art America watermark.
