Description
Eating on the fly, not good for the digestion but this girl does it all the time. Hummingbirds are New World birds belonging to the family Trochilidae. They are among the smallest of birds with most species measuring in the 3 to 5 inch range and some weighing less than a penny.
As they fly, they create a humming sound by their flapping their wings at high frequencies audible to humans. They hover in mid-air at these rapid wing-flapping rates, typically around 50 times per second, allowing them also to fly at speeds exceeding 34 miles per hour and backwards.
