Description
Sunlight bathes the rugged formations of the Grand Canyon, casting dramatic shadows on the geological layers. Above, a cluster of clouds floats in the clear blue sky, enhancing the natural beauty of the landscape.
Bright Angel Trail originates at Arizona’s Grand Canyon Village on the south rim of the Grand Canyon, descending 4380 feet to the Colorado River. It has an average grade of 10% along its entire length. At trail's end, the River Trail continues another 1.9 miles to the Bright Angel Campground and Phantom Ranch. These two trails combined are the most common method used to access Phantom Ranch by hikers and mules.
Some walk, some just sit on their mules... The National Park Service warns that there are no easy trails into or out of the Grand Canyon. They state that "the Bright Angel Trail begins just west of Bright Angel Lodge and offers day hikes that range in distance up to 12 miles round trip. Some shade. Seasonal water availability subject to pipeline breaks.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition.
