Forest Canyon Overlook is a 0.3 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Estes Park, Colorado in Rocky Mountain National Park. It features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is best used from June until August.
A short, paved walkway leads to an observation platform offering view of vast Forest Canyon, where the erosion work of glaciers is clearly evident, and a look at the peaks of the Continental Divide beyond.
The topography of the Rocky Mountain National Park is a smattering of towering and craggy peaks framing expansive valleys and bubbling rivers. The Forest Canyon Overlook is an ideal place to take it all in.
With uncontested views of the iconic Long's Peak (14,255 feet), Stones Peak (12,922 feet), Hayden Gorge, and the ice-blue Gorge Lakes, this vantage point is second to none with respect to accessibility.

I owned and operated a professional studio in central Kansas for 20 years and moved to Colorado in 1994. Part of the studio's early success came from creating outdoor portraiture using controlled lighting...
