Description
Gates Pass is located along the crest of the mountains west of Tucson, Arizona. When travelling east from the pass, the traveler on West Anklam Road will merge with the West Speedway Boulevard east of North Camino De Oeste in Tucson. The road west of Gates Pass is known as Saguaro Road and continues until it reaches Kinney Road just north of the Old Tucson movie studio set. The elevation of the Gates Pass is 3,172 feet.
Lined with scenic overlooks, Gates Pass is an area where locals and tourists go to watch an Arizona sunset. The road through the pass was started in 1883 by Thomas Gates, in search of a shortcut through the Tucson Mountains. Gates was a local pioneer, a saloon keeper and rancher who purchased the land to build the road. The Gates Pass road carries about 3100 cars each day.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition. Your finished photograph will not contain the Fine Art America watermark.
