Description
Gunports along a wall in Ft. Vasquez. Primarily the site of fur trading, one can't be too careful. The original fort walls were much higher than these rebuilt ones.
Fort Vasquez is a former fur trading post northeast of Denver, Colorado. Founded by Luis Vasquez and Andrew Sublette in 1835, it was restored by the Works Progress Administration in the 1930's, and now lies between opposite lanes of U.S. Highway 85 as it splits on either side of the building. History Colorado took possession of the property in 1958 and runs it as a museum to display exhibits of the fur-trade era.
Some of the adobe walls are in need of repair as seen in this image.
