Artist's Description

Sunlight bathes the red rock cliffs of a sprawling canyon, with lush green vegetation scattered throughout the valley. The dramatic landscape contrasts the earthy tones of the rocks with the vibrant greens of the trees under a partly cloudy sky.

Canyon de Chelly is home to Dine' families who raise livestock, farm lands, and live here. People have lived in these canyons for nearly 5,000 years, longer than anyone has lived continuously on the Colorado Plateau. In this place they call Tsegi, their homes and images tell their stories.

Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition.

My first camera was acquired by trading an ancient Royal typewriter to a fellow college student who was desperate to finish a term paper.
