Description
Sandstone hogbacks rise from Lory State Park on an August morning while an Ponderosa Pine tree stands guard. The park is just west of Horsetooth Reservoir near Ft. Collins in northern Colorado.
Formerly ranchland, Lory State Park was purchased in 1967 and named in honor of Dr. Charles A. Lory, president of Colorado State University from 1909 thru 1940.
The digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made.
The park contains Arthur's Rock, a jutting granite formation named for an early settler in the area.

This is an awesome image--I keep looking for "that" tree but haven't found it yet (thought I did but someone cut it down). l/f/t
