Description
Sandstone hogbacks rise from Lory State Park on a late August morning. The park is just west of Horsetooth Reservoir near Ft. Collins in northern Colorado.
Formerly ranchland, Lory State Park was purchased in 1967 and named in honor of Dr. Charles A. Lory, president of Colorado State University from 1909 thru 1940.
The park contains Arthur's Rock, a jutting granite formation named for an early settler in the area.
