Description
Ancient cliff dwellings are nestled against a rugged rock face under a clear blue sky. Lush green vegetation is spread across the foreground, contrasting with the warm colors of the rock formations.
Established December 8, 1906, Montezuma Castle is the third National Monument dedicated to preserving Native American culture. This 20 room high-rise apartment, nestled into a towering limestone cliff, tells a story of ingenuity, survival and ultimately, prosperity in an unforgiving desert landscape.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition.
