Description
Golden light bathes the rolling hills, highlighting the autumn foliage at sunrise. A thin layer of mist hovers above the landscape, and a river winds gently through the tranquil valley.
Just south of Jackson, Wyoming, early morning fog burns off over the Snake River, a major river of the greater Pacific Northwest in the United States. At 1,078 miles long, it is the largest tributary of the Columbia River that empties into the Pacific Ocean. Rising in western Wyoming, the Snake flows through southern Idaho’s rugged Hells Canyon area in northeastern Oregon and the rolling Palouse Hills to reach its mouth near the Washington Tri-Cities area, where it continues as part of the Columbia.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed.
