Description
Alpine Avens (Guem rosii ssp turbinate) is a common alpine plant having bright yellow saucer shaped flowers and compound dark green leaves. In August the leaves turn brilliant red, covering the tundra in swaths of color. Alpine Avens plants are a favorite food of Pikas, small mammals that gather and dry the plant for winter consumption. Alpine avens blooms from June to August.
