Description
Some walk, some just sit on their mules... The National Park Service warns that there are no easy trails into or out of the Grand Canyon. They state that "the Bright Angel Trail begins just west of Bright Angel Lodge and offers day hikes that range in distance up to 12 miles round trip. Some shade. Seasonal water availability subject to pipeline breaks. Check at the Visitor Center or back country Information Center for water status. The upper portion of the trail may be extremely icy in winter or early spring.
The Grand Canyon was carved by the Colorado River. It is contained within and managed by Grand Canyon National Park, the Hualapai Tribal Nation, and the Havasupai Tribe. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
