Description
A stunning landscape reveals layers of vibrant red, orange, and yellow rock formations carved by natural forces over time. Vegetation is sparse, scattered across the rugged terrain, under a broad sky with a few clouds dotting the horizon.
Mi casa es su casa…
Ancient cliff dwellings are nestled under a large rock overhang, suggesting a protective sanctuary. The structures appear to be bathed in light, highlighting the natural textures and warm tones of the surrounding rock.
From Mummy Cave overlook, found right on the cliff edge, one can see of a group of ruins on the northeast side of Arizona’s Canyon de Chelly. The main structure, usually in full sun, is an impressive, angular, fort-like building with a three story tower, sits on a projecting, sheer-walled buttress. There are many other ruined buildings at either side in two deep alcoves near the base of the cliffs. The site was named following the discovery of two mummies nearby.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition.
