Description
This photograph is of a bull elk bedded down for the evening in Rocky Mountain National Park in northern Colorado during the fall rut. A lot of people drive up to Moraine Park or Beaver Meadows to watch the festivities. Be sure to bring a folding chair, binoculars, wine if you want it, a hot drink, AND a warm coat. The evenings get rather chilly.
The rutting season lasts from September through October when the fall colors are the best so don't forget the camera.
Digital effects were added to the image after the photograph was made. No animals or electrons were harmed in the process...
