Description
Ancient ruins are set against a rugged cliffside with numerous natural cave openings. The structure, built from adobe and stone, displays partial wooden beams and is surrounded by vegetation.
Bandelier National Monument is a 33,677 acre New Mexico treasure preserving the homes of the Ancestral Pueblo People. The monument named after Swiss anthropologist Adolph Bandelier, who researched the cultures of the area and was designated a National Monument on February 11, 1916. The National Park Service co-operates with surrounding pueblos, other federal agencies and state agencies to manage the park.
Looking carefully at the long shadows from the roof poles, one can guess the time this photograph was made. I would venture to say it was at 11:23 in the morning. (OK, OK, so I cheated…)
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition.
