Description
Tidal flats were muddy and marshy along the western edge of the Cretaceous Sea during the time of the dinosaurs. The muddy layers became mud stone and were later removed by erosion leaving the sandy surface seen in this photograph made near Dinosaur Ridge on the west edge of Denver, Colorado.
The detailed tracks excavated from the mud stone suggest that several dinosaurs were walking along the edge of an ancient beach depressing the sandy layers below. The upper layer where the original tracks were made is long gone but the imprints on the sandstone layer have been exposed.
Some digital effects were applied to this original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition. Ordered images will not contain the FAA watermark.
