Heels down and ready to go, Pony Express Re-riders are again getting the mail through! Near Ft. Laramie, Wyoming, rider Rochelle is ready to head west into Utah for the hand off. From here, the letters in the leather pouches will be handed off many times to other riders until eventually, they will reach California to complete the 2015 re-ride of the mail delivery.

The Pony Express, an early mail-delivery system of the Leavenworth and Pike's Peak Express Company of 1859, in 1860 became the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company. The idea of a fast mail route to the Pacific coast was prompted largely by California's new found prominence and its rapidly growing population. Photography is all about using light to capture the emotion and beauty of a fleeting moment. For me, this adventure began with a single spring image using a small Kodak film camera of a freshly watered central Kansas ditch and has come full circle using modern digital techniques. My first camera was acquired by trading an ancient Royal typewriter to a fellow college student who was desperate to finish a term paper. It was a long time ago and that camera was my passport to an art that has fascinated me ever since. I owned and operated a professional studio in central Kansas for 20 years and moved to Colorado in 1994.
