Description
Red Tailed hawks belong to the genus Buteo which refers to medium to fairly large, wide-ranging raptors with robust bodies and broad wings. In the Old World, members of this genus are called "buzzards", but "hawk" is used in North America. Buteo is the largest subfamily of the Accipitridae – the soaring hawks. These birds circle overhead and drop upon their prey in a steep dive. They have broad rounded wings, stout bodies, and broad fanned tails. Usually lone hunters, they migrate in flocks tending to follow ridges and shorelines.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition. Ordered images will not contain the FAA watermark
