Description
Tiny Sand Creek flows through Haygood Canyon to the northwest of Red Mountain Open Space in Larimer County north of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Looking at this photograph of the docile creek as it continues southward through RMOS makes one wonder many times the water swelled, exploded and roared like a freight train carving its way through Bent Rock Canyon, pulverizing boulders, chiseling its way to the open plains…
This area has been preserved in part due to a concentrated conservation project aimed at maintaining the vastness of the area. The Mountains to Plains Project is a collaborative habitat conservation effort consisting of contributions from willing landowners, The Nature Conservancy, Larimer County Open Lands Program, Legacy Land Trust, the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Program, and Great Outdoors Colorado. The project protects over 55,000 acres of land.

You have composed this shot perfectly Jon; this image has it all, the gorgeous red mountains contrasting with that beautiful blue sky - the small creek, the wild flowers in bloom, absolutely nature at is best - bravo my friend!!
