Description
The white Prickly Poppy flower at the lower left was what grabbed my eye. This caused me to pick up my camera and do some of that photographer stuff you hear so much about...
As a bonus, there is a pretty bright yellow flower with a reddish bushy center behind it, the one with a little friend perched on top. That’s Gaillardia aristata, also known as Indian Blanket flower, Common Gaillardia, Gaillardia, or Brown-eyed Susan. Common to Plains, Foothills and Montane, this AsterSunflower was found in the Soapstone Prairie Open Space just south of the Wyoming and Colorado border.
BTW, the larger yellow hitch hiker with the antenna looks somewhat like the famous Callippe Fritillary butterfly don’t you think? Their appearance varies from light tan to bright orange with black, evenly-spaced markings. Below that, they have disk olive or brown and buff sub-marginal band on the hind wing, the spots are usually silvered. Hind wing has marginal spots often more triangular with narrow brown edging.
I’m pretty sure the other critter is some kind of moth…
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition. Ordered images will not contain the Fine Art America watermark.
