Description
The Grand Canyon was carved by the Colorado River. It is contained within and managed by Grand Canyon National Park, the Hualapai Tribal Nation, and the Havasupai Tribe. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
Many of the canyon's landmarks were named by geologist Charles Dutton who published one of the earliest detailed geologic studies of the canyon in 1882. Dutton believed that the canyon was such an important and impressive feature on the planet, the names of its features should reflect all the world's cultures and thus he chose many names from mythologies and legends from around the world.
Examples of visible canyon landmarks in this image are (from left to right) Shiva Temple, Isis Temple, Tiyo Point, Cheops Pyramid, Buddha Temple, Hillers Butte, and Bright Angel Canyon. The Battleship is in the left foreground.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition. Ordered images will not contain the FAA watermark
A VERY high quality non-FAA signed original photograph is offered, please see below and contact me directly.
