Description
A couple of black tail prairie dogs venture out from their burrow on a warm winter morning in northern Colorado for a quick lunch date.
The black-tailed prairie dog is a rodent found in the Great Plains of North America. Unlike some other prairie dogs, they do not hibernate and can be seen above ground all year. A Texas black-tailed prairie dog town was reported to cover 25,000 square miles and included 400,000,000 animals. Prior to habitat destruction, this species may have been the most abundant prairie dog in central North America and was described by Lewis and Clark during their Expedition.
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition. Your finished photograph will not contain the Fine Art America watermark.
